Croatia: Beyond Expectations

<!--“I will not let anyone tell me that Croatia will not be prosperous and wealthy.” So said Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on winning her country’s presidential election in 2015. The new President’s optimism has proved fully justified. The purchasing power of Croatians grew to the equivalent of $22,000 in 2017, as the benefits of the country’s 2013 accession to the European Union made themselves felt. EU membership has connected Croatia’s economy to the global supply chain, while also helping to drive tourist arrivals to an all-time high. At the same time, more and more visitors are drawn not j ust to the country’s beaches, but also to the hiking trails of its national parks, and to its ski resorts and cultural attractions.
